In early 2010, Miller/Wenhold Capitol Strategies, a government affairs consulting firm based in Fairfax, VA decided to host the Virginia Small Business Summit, a day-long gathering which served as an opportunity to bring lawmakers and policy experts together with small business leaders from across the Commonwealth to discuss ways to improve the Virginia small business environment. Over 130 business leaders gathered at the inaugural Summit to talk about current policies and areas for improvement.
The proposals discussed at the Summit were compiled into a document and presented to the Governor and members of the General Assembly. However, this is only the first step! The Virginia Small Business Partnership is an organization dedicated to representing the small business community to Virginia leaders and also serving as a resource to the small business community by hosting monthly policy briefings and continuing to bring small business leaders together with decision-makers throughout the Commonwealth.
